Funding support helped restore free clinic access
Coverage connected the investment to a clinic serving uninsured and underinsured residents with essential health services.
As PR Manager at Health Net, I worked across Public Affairs, Community Giving, and Communications to coordinate a $75,000 investment that helped California CareForce move forward with its free Sacramento medical clinic after a funding shortfall put the event at risk.
The support covered more than half of the funding needed for medical equipment and care-station setup, helping preserve an essential access point for uninsured and underinsured residents. In the prior year, the clinic served nearly 2,000 people with medical, dental, vision, and diagnostic services.
My role was to connect the organization’s community investment to a clear public-facing story about access to care. I coordinated internal stakeholders, supported message development, and helped communicate the impact of the funding to media, community leaders, and partners.
The effort linked a timely philanthropic decision to Health Net’s broader commitment to improving access to care for Californians facing barriers to essential health services. It also showed how community giving, public affairs, and communications can work together to turn an urgent operational need into a visible demonstration of purpose.
The investment helped save the 2019 Sacramento clinic. What had been canceled because of a funding gap was restored in time to provide thousands of low-income, uninsured, and underinsured residents with free care close to home.
The work also strengthened Health Net’s connection to the Sacramento community by showing a practical commitment to people who needed access to care. By aligning Public Affairs, Community Giving, and Communications, we turned a timely investment into a clear story of community impact.
Coverage connected the investment to a clinic serving uninsured and underinsured residents with essential health services.
Broadcast coverage helped show how the restored clinic would bring free medical, dental, vision, and diagnostic services to the community.
